1880
Valentin Fraas founds the company V. Fraas in Wüstenselbitz, a small town in Upper Franconia with a long history of textile production, and starts to produce neck scarves, headscarves, shawls and tartan travelling rugs.
1894
Valentin's son, Christian Fraas, takes over management of the company and approx. 100 people are employed by the turn of the century.
1950-60
Arthur Fraas, Christian's son, continues the expansion of the company and builds the first factory in Wüstenselbitz. The family takes advantage of the Wirtschaftswunder (economic miracle) of the 1950s to make its first foreign contacts.
1970-80
In the 1970s, the production capacities are further expanded. In 1980, the company is taken over by Dr. Robert Schmidt, Arthur Fraas' son-in-law.
1982
The company develops further into an international producer and provider of textile accessories. Branches are opened in New York, Toronto, London and Hong Kong.
1985
V. Fraas launches its exclusive Cashmink® brand. This high-quality acrylic textile is so soft that it is often equated with natural cashmere. Cashmink® quickly develops into the highest-selling scarf in the world.
1991-97
With branches in the Czech Republic and Poland, V. Fraas conquers the key market of Eastern Europe and expands with branches in Japan, Korea and Russia.
1997
V. Fraas takes over the famous company "Jammers & Leufgen" and expands its product portfolio to include silk shawls and scarves.
2000-03
A total of 70 V. Fraas flagship stores are opened in the People's Republic of China and the company founds its own production site for knitted accessories.
2005
V. Fraas celebrates its 125-year anniversary. At the same time, the first V. Fraas shop in Germany opens in the upcoming fashion capital Berlin, the sales office in Shanghai is expanded and building work commences on a distribution centre for textile accessories in India.
2006
The FRAAS brand is launched on the German market with the opening of five flagship stores.
2009
V. Fraas is established in 25 locations worldwide with a global workforce of 600, 300 of whom are based at the German sites.
2010
Cashmink celebrates its 25-year anniversary.
