Faux fur accessories: the fur look without real fur
As soon as it gets cold, they are back everywhere: scarves with a fluffy trim, hats with pom-poms, gloves with a soft lining. Faux fur has grown from a trend into a staple of the winter wardrobe. That makes sense, because faux fur looks cozy and feels that way too – and no real fur is needed for it.
The accessories in this collection come from LOEVENICH. The brand stands for women's headwear and other accessories such as scarves and gloves, and it has been part of the FRAAS portfolio since its launch in 2024. Here you will find faux fur in several variations: as faux fur, as faux shearling, as faux suede, and as faux leather.
What faux fur can do – and what you can expect
Honestly: faux fur is not a natural material, and it does not have to be. It is soft, keeps you reliably warm, and can be made in patterns that would hardly be possible with real fur, such as leopard print, patchwork, or check. The material details are listed on each product page. For the most part, the items are made of polyester, in some cases polyamide.
A tip from experience: synthetic fibers absorb hardly any moisture. If you step from the street straight onto an overheated bus in a thick coat, you will sweat faster under a faux fur hat than under a wool one. For a walk, a stroll through town, or the commute to the office, the material works beautifully. If you are on the move a lot, ear warmers or a headband are the airier solution. If you would like to avoid animal materials altogether, our vegan fashion accessories offer even more choice.
Faux fur, faux shearling, faux suede: the differences
Not all faux fur is the same. So that you know what you are getting, here is the short version: Classic faux fur usually has longer, denser fibers and looks the most like traditional fur, for example on scarves or collars. Faux shearling is rather short and plush, looks a bit like teddy fleece, and often shows up as a lining or fold-over brim. Faux suede has a matte, velvety surface and goes well with hats, caps, and mittens. Faux leather is smooth with a slight sheen, which gives bucket hats and ear warmers a clean look.
The combinations are especially interesting: faux suede on the outside and faux shearling on the inside, for example, looks refined and feels soft. You can find out which materials are used in which item on the respective product page.
Scarves, hats, gloves: what you will find in the collection
Scarves and collars: The classics among faux fur accessories are the scarves. There are elegant styles in faux fur, small scarves made of faux shearling that can be draped loosely around the neck, and styles with a patchwork look. A knitted scarf with a faux fur trim combines both: the softness of knitwear and the look of fur. If you prefer something more compact, go for the faux fur collar, which upgrades a coat or cardigan in seconds.
Beanies, caps, and hats: The range of knitted hats runs from the classic beanie with a faux fur pom-pom, through knitted hats with faux fur pom-poms (also with a brim), to melange styles with a faux shearling fold-over brim. There are also hats and caps made of faux suede and faux shearling. Something special is the bucket hat made of faux leather, which brings the hat trend into winter. And if you prefer something dressier, the women's hats include a faux fur hat in a modern pillbox shape.
Ear warmers and headbands: Save your hairstyle and still have warm ears: that is what headbands and ear warmers are for. They come in plain faux leather, in a leopard design, checked with faux shearling, or in faux suede and faux shearling. Headbands are available in a patchwork look or with a leopard pattern.
Gloves and mittens: Among the gloves, you can choose between soft gloves made of faux fur, styles with stretchy faux suede, and mittens with faux shearling. Mittens are usually the warmer option, by the way, because your fingers keep each other warm. You will just have to take them off briefly to use your phone.
How to wear faux fur
The simplest rule: one faux fur piece per outfit as the eye-catcher. A scarf with a fur trim over a simple winter coat looks elegant, while scarf, hat, and gloves all in faux fur quickly look like too much of a good thing. The exception: if you want to commit to a look on purpose, it works best in a single color, for example entirely in beige or brown.
Plain-color styles in black, gray, beige, or brown go with almost everything and are the safe choice if you only want to buy one piece. Leopard print and patchwork add more presence. If you like leopard, also take a look at our animal style accessories as well. A classic winter scarf also makes a good counterpart if your hat or gloves already stand out.
And one more thought on color: beige, brown, and gray look especially soft with light winter coats, while black adds a calm line to dark coats. If you would rather have color near your face, a hat in red or green sets an accent while the rest of the outfit stays understated.
Faux fur as a gift
A faux fur accessory is a gift where it is hard to go wrong. There is no size question, because all items in this collection come in one size. A hat, ear warmers, or a scarf fit without a fitting. You can play it safe with color, too: black, gray, or beige almost always work. Especially handy: glove sizes are a classic gift risk, and with mittens in one size that is not an issue. If you are unsure whether the recipient prefers a hat or a scarf, ear warmers or a small scarf are rarely a bad choice. You will find more ideas in our gift selection.
